Daimler and his associate had a great success in automotive sports, but a fatal accident makes them discontinue the car production. Their manager, who was convinced about the quality of their cars, suggests: "Once you can create caterpillars, it's high time you created a butterfly!". The two engineers understood his spirit and created 30 "Simplex" that gave the manager a great delight: with a cell-form radiator and a lower center of gravity, the Simplex was a revolutionary car. A simplified version (photo) was designed for the public market, that the manager called "Mercedes", naming her after his elder daughter. This model might be considered as the father of today's cars and for sure, the beginning of a successful brand.
